The South Texas Council Hosted over 4, 200 Students at Camp Karankawa's Character Camp 2007...
Students participating in the Learning for Life Character Education Program this academic year attended a field day out at the South Texas Council, Boy Scouts of America's Camp Karankawa on Lake Corpus Christi near Mathis, TX on their selected school day during the three week period of April 20, 2007 through May 11, 2007.
The student's participated in character education lesson plans all year learning valuable character traits in the areas of Responsibility, Respect, Honesty/Trust, Caring/Fairness, Perseverance, Self-Discipline, Courage, and Citizenship as well as life skills which included lesson plan themes like: Basic Art, Classic Literature, Clean Air and Water, Safety, Communication, Fire Safety, Money Management and Youth Protection.
The children who attended the Character Camp Field Days participated in 4 different age appropriate activities: a nature trail hike through the woods, a "fat bat baseball" game, a run through a low level obstacle course/ending with a tug of war finale and a try at hitting the bullseye on the archery range.
