United Way Partners

The South Texas Council and United Way

Nearly every community in the South Texas Council is served by a United Way partner that supports Scouting and many other important and worthwhile organizations and services that enrich our communities.  A significant portion of our Council's annual operating budget comes from United Way allocations.  We hope all Scouters and Scouting families will support United Way campaigns in their communities, as an important way of providing income for Scouting in South Texas.

How You Can Help

Your contribution to the United Way helps us along with many other service organizations and programs.  Your community's United Way may permit designations and, if that is the case, you may choose the organizations or services you wish to support.

Be positive .. talk up United Way!  We are fortunate that none of our Council's United Way agencies have even considered "defunding" the Boy Scouts of America, as has been reported in other areas of the country.

Let your United Way agency know you appreciate their continued support of Scouting.  All United Way agencies are autonomous organizations and their actions reflect the will of the local community volunteers who run them and determine allocations.

Encourage others at your work place to join you in supporting good works in your community.

Offer to help as a volunteer in your local United Way campaign.

If  you are already a United Way volunteer, let United Way know that you are also a Scouter.  There are many of us active in both.  Scouting is proud of that.

The staff members of the South Texas Council are proud to be pacesetters in providing United Way support:  100% of our employees pledge to United Way.  The average gift is well over $200 per staff member.  The South Texas Council will continue to identify community needs and provide programs that make a difference in meeting those needs.  We are confident that these efforts will maximize our United Way funding and our United Way relationships.
