We Need Your Support
Your financial and in-kind support is critical to ensuring that young people of all ages, social, economic and cultural backgrounds can participate in the character education programs offered by the South Texas Council, Boy Scouts of America.
Some may believe the programs the Council provides are funded entirely by the National Council, or that fees for participating cover all expenses. Some also have the mistaken belief that the government funds the BSA. This is simply not true. Scouting is funded locally and is as big and effective as local citizens decide it will be through their support.
Annual Operating Budget
Here is where our annual budget funding comes from:
30% Camping revenue
23% Friends of Scouting (annual fundraising campaign)
18% Sales of products and supplies (including Popcorn)
14% United Way agencies
9% Special events (like our Distinguished Citizen Award Dinners)
6% Government grants, income from investments, and other direct support
And, here is how our annual operational budget is spent:
45% Support for our Scouting units
40% Program support
8% Management and administration
7% Fundraising
