Facilities Owned and Operated by the South Texas Council

Lucien Flournoy Service Center – 700 Everhart Terrace, Building A, Corpus Christi.  The center has 9,400 square feet and houses the administrative office and a National Scout Shop.  Open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.  The staff of five office staff and four Scout Shop staff support over 3,500 volunteers registered in our territory.  The professional staff, the President and Scout Executive, and Vice President and Assistant Scout Executive operate from this site.  Other staff work from a district office, normally in their homes or office space provided by a business friend of Scouting (telephone:  361-814-4300).

 

Camp Karankawa – on Lake Corpus Christi, near Mathis.  This 130-acre Scout camp includes 17 campsites (one is a special handicapped site), large swimming pool, waterfront with canoes, rowboats, ski boat, sailboats and sail boards, craft areas, nature area and trails, archery range, rifle and shotgun range, campfire amphitheater, trading post, 300-person dining hall and other facilities including a large indoor training center.  It has year around “weekend” use as well as the full summer camp operation.  It is staffed the year around by a resident “Ranger” (telephone:  361-547-2624).

 

 

 

Mauritz Scout Reservation – near Lake Texana near Ganado and Victoria.  This 130-acre site is a “weekend camp.”  Various activities and events are held there.  In addition to beautiful wooded campsites, activity areas and a small lake, the camp has a training center for youth and adult training activities.  It is staffed the year around by a resident “Ranger” (telephone:  361-771-2395).

 

 

 

 

 

Camp Huisache – on Lake Casa Blanca near Laredo.  This 60-acre camp has 6 campsites, program shelters and a new 10,000 square foot training/conference center that also includes the Aztec District office.  The new facility, which opened in May of 1997, hosts youth activities for other youth-serving agencies in addition to Scouting events and activities.  A professional staff member is based in Laredo, and they work in the office, and the Camp also has a resident “Caretaker” (telephone:  956-791-0154).
